In the meantime, you can learn a bit more about finding intended parents in Pennsylvania below.
How to Find Intended Parents in Pennsylvania
As you probably already know, Pennsylvania is a very surrogacy-friendly state. As a prospective surrogate here, you can safely, legally and ethically make your surrogacy dreams come true.
Because of its surrogacy-friendly case law, Pennsylvania is an attractive destination for many intended parents — not just those who live in the Keystone State. Central PA Surrogacy is regularly approached by intended parents in New Jersey and New York, where gestational surrogacy is more strictly regulated and completely illegal, respectively. So, if you’re considering working with our surrogacy program, we will have people looking for surrogate mothers from all parts of the Northeast.
However, you will always get to choose from where your intended parents come. That’s because you are as active a participant in the matching process as intended parents. You are an equal partner in surrogacy, so you have equal say in the process ahead of you.
When you are a surrogate looking for intended parents with our program, here’s how the process typically works:
Step 1: Decide what you want in intended parents.
As a surrogate, you have the right to determine exactly what your ideal intended parent will look like. After all, you are volunteering to carry their child for them, so you get a say in what kind of person they are.
When you first sign up with Central PA Surrogacy, our professionals will help you create a surrogacy plan. This will include your preferences for intended parents, such as:
- Marital status
- Home state or home country (in the case of international intended parents)
- Age
- Race
- Sexual orientation
- And more
Step 2: Complete your pre-match screening.
Before we can start using these characteristics to identify families seeking surrogates, you must pass some additional screening. We want to ensure you are 100 percent physically and emotionally ready for surrogacy before we match you with waiting intended parents. After we receive your surrogate application and create a surrogacy plan, our team will work behind the scenes to complete background checks and other clearances, as well as review your social and medical history.
Step 3: Let us find intended parents for you.
After we have gathered your preferences and ensured you meet the requirements for surrogacy, we’ll start looking for intended parents seeking gestational surrogates. We often have a list of pre-approved families waiting to be matched, and we will search through them to find someone who shares your goals and desires. We also coordinate with local law firm Bierly & Rabuck and other local professionals to expand our network.
Step 4: Share a conference call.
Once we find a match, we will present you with basic information about those intended parents. Then, if you are interested, we will set up an initial conference call, mediated by our team. This way, you can get to know the intended parents a little better and ask any important lingering questions.
Step 5: Meet in person with our professionals’ facilitation.
If, after this call, you and the intended parents express interest in working with each other, we’ll set up an in-person meeting, usually a meal. Like during your first call, we’ll be there to facilitate this meeting. This will give you a final chance to determine your comfort level with the intended parents and ask any remaining questions you may have. Sometimes, it takes an in-person meeting for a prospective surrogate to feel truly comfortable with a hopeful parent.
After this meeting, you can finalize your partnership with that intended parent, should you wish to. This involves creating a legal contract, but it must be done after you complete additional medical and psychological screening. When it comes time to solidify your match with a contract, we will connect you to our partners at Bierly & Rabuck for references to an experienced lawyer who will protect your rights and interests every step of the way.
